Christmas Sonnets, The
Richard Lewis, the founder of Portland Revels, has written a stunning volume of sonnets offering a unique and poetic window on the familiar episodes of the Christmas story. Each sonnet appears opposite the scripture on which it is based, yet the treatment is not religious. It is realistic and, as such, is not intended for religious traditionalists.

They sang of joy and peace; what's more, there'd be
a savior in a manger on the ground.
A savior? Wouldn't that be fair to see,
and Bethlehem was not too far to walk
if one of them would stay to mind the flock.
